Hugel
Famille Hugel Vendange Tardive Riesling 2011, Alsace, France
The grapes for this come from a selection of the oldest plots of the Hugel estate in the heart of the grand cru Schoenenbourg, which have been left on the vine and have attracted noble rot. Think acacia honey, preserved pears, kumquat, citron, bergamot, hawthorn and acacia blossom and just the slightest mineral hint that is so central to the charm of this grape variety.

ABOUT THE VINEYARD
Schoenenbourg is the home of Hugel estate, continuing the rich tradition of resiling wines in the Alsace region. The vineyard uses only the oldest, most over-ripe grapes for maximum flavour, growing in rich, fertilised soil during a late-year harvest. Once plucked, these grapes are pressed without the aid of mechanical intervention and aged, ensuring a fresh and unfiltered drinking experience.
