Pol Roger

Pol Roger Brut Réserve NV, Champagne, France

£28

Sir Winston Churchill was such a fan of Champagne Pol Roger that the famous Maison named its top cuvée after him. Brut Réserve is the perfect introduction to this historic house and its world-class Champagnes. It shows a golden straw yellow with persistent, fine bubbles. Take a whiff and you’ll find a lot going on, from bright white flowers and tangy green apple, to toasty brioche and a streak of stony minerality. The palate is complex, showing stone fruits as well as some honey and nutty notes, and truly mouth-watering acidity.

GRAPE

  • 34% Chardonnay
  • 33%  Pinot Noir
  • 33% Pinot Meunier

WHAT IT GOES WITH

Pop a magnum of this as your guests arrive and transform a mere evening into a veritable soirée. Though virtually perfect as an aperitif, it’s also wonderful with meaty fish and dishes featuring Asian spice.

ABOUT THE VINEYARD

Brut Réserve embodies the Pol Roger house style, and is the result of a meticulous blending of over 30 still base wines spanning multiple vintages, vineyards and three grape varieties. The Pinot Noir is sourced from top villages in the Montagne de Reims, the Chardonnay from the town of Epernay and the Côte des Blancs, and the Pinot Meunier hails from the Vallée d’Epernay.
