Domaine Raspail Ay

Domaine Raspail-Ay Gigondas 2018, Rhône, France

£19

It's always a pleasure when a red wine arrives ready to drink, and that's certainly the case with this 2018 vintage - a fine year, even by the exemplary standards of Raspail-Ay. The freshness of a flower garden combines with a delectable sweet cherry aroma once the cork is popped, but the palate is treated just as well as the nose. Full bodied and fruity, with hints of black raspberry tempered by spices and just a pinch of floral lightness. Rich, ripe tannins complete a unique wine experience that once again marks out Raspail-Ay as a name to trust.

ABOUT THE VINEYARD

Located in Gigondas, Domaine Raspail Ay is a legacy of Eugène Raspail, who created this vineyard in 1854. In 2020, stewardship remains in the Raspail bloodline through Doiminique, a descendent of Eugene. Domaine Raspail Ay covers 18 hectares, and Domique ensures that all wine is created as naturally as possible. Grapes are harvested by hand, destemmed, fermented and bottled without the aid of artifice or filtration, after being aged to perfection before being released for sale.
