Shafer
Shafer 'One Point Five' 2017, Napa Valley, USA
This wine is an homage to the beginning of the working relationship of father and son, John & Doug Shafer, in 1983. Hailing from the Stag’s Leap region of Napa, there is no doubting this wine’s opulence and power; aromas of red and black fruit, baking spice, dark violets, lavender, wet stone, and cinnamon segway to juicy flavors of red plum, cherry, cassis, black tea, and cola.

ABOUT THE VINEYARD
John Shafer was a publisher with a dream of opening his own vineyard. This ambition was realised in 1972 when he moved to Napa Valley and founded the Shafer estate. Shafer's first wine was launched from a 1978 vintage, and is still operated by John and his son Doug. This, "generation of a half" of winemakers is reflected in the name One Point Five. The vines of this wine are harvested as late as possible to ensue maturity, while each is checked for quality before use.
